In this role, you will be responsible for performing testing, monitoring analytic performance, and ensuring strict compliance with CLIA, COLA, and state regulations. Key Responsibilities (CLIA mandated)
Day-to-Day Supervision:
Provide direct, on-site, telephone, or electronic supervision and technical consultation to testing personnel performing high-complexity laboratory procedures.
Quality Assurance Monitoring:
Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
Remedial Actions:
Identify, document, and execute remedial actions whenever test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Result Verification:
Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
Personnel Training & Competency:
Provide orientation and training to all testing personnel. Evaluate and document the competency of testing personnel as delegated by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor.
Operational Readiness:
Ensure that the laboratory is fully accessible, properly staffed, and safely operated during all hours of test performance. Required Qualifications & Education Candidates must meet the minimum personnel qualifications for a High Complexity General Supervisor under CLIA regulation 42 CFR § 493.1461.
Education & Experience:
Must possess one of the following pathways:
Option A:
A licensed
MD/DO/DPM OR
a Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science (or medical technology) AND at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience (or both) in high-complexity testing.
Option B:
Valid qualification as High-Complexity Testing Personnel AND at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience (or both) in high-complexity testing.
Option C:
An Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or clinical laboratory science AND at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience (or both) in high-complexity testing.
Licensure:
Active state laboratory license in the state of employment (if applicable). Certifications (Preferred): ASCP, AMT, or equivalent board certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with urine drug testing (LCMS) preferred. Deep technical knowledge of high-complexity toxicology testing methodologies. Strong understanding of
CLIA '88
regulations, COLA, and quality control principles. Excellent leadership and troubleshooting skills with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
