Basic Job Functions:
We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Lab Supervisor. The role of the Lab Supervisor includes, but is not limited to: Supervise Sheet and BM lab technicians, including development and training, coordination of schedules, and handling issues. Maintain calibration of all sample preparation equipment and testing equipment, including preventative maintenance and calibration of certification equipment and tools located in the mill. Optimize turnaround time of lab results, automation, and reducing time between retests and expediting hot orders. Develop relationships with sales, operations, and IT teammates for expediting rush orders. Forecast necessary expenditures as they relate to the expansion of Berkeley's production and product mix. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited University or equivalent Experience with mechanical testing principles Experience with steel or related industrial manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Metallurgy or Materials Science/Engineering Entry-level knowledge in programming/database access Mechanical, Electrical, and software troubleshooting knowledge Basic knowledge of ASTM, JIS, and Euronorm testing standards, as well as automotive standards 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience Nucor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug-free workplace
