This pivotal role involves managing laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest quality of laboratory testing and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive laboratory experience, and a comprehensive understanding of clinical laboratory techniques and regulations. Candidate must be competent in all areas of the PCR/Molecular laboratory including sample preparation, instrument maintenance and operation, result review and release, and reconciling specimen compliance investigations. Duties Supervise daily laboratory activities, ensuring all testing procedures are performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and other applicable standards Lead and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and professional development Oversee specimen collection, processing, and analysis, including blood banking, venipuncture, and other phlebotomy procedures Manage laboratory information systems (LIS) and document management systems to ensure precise data entry, record keeping, and compliance with quality assurance protocols Implement quality control (QC) measures for assays such as ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, clinical chemistry, hematology, and other laboratory tests Ensure adherence to safety protocols including aseptic techniques and proper handling of medical laboratory equipment to maintain a safe working environment Coordinate schedule management for laboratory personnel to optimize workflow and meet testing turnaround times Conduct regular audits of laboratory procedures to uphold quality management standards and facilitate continuous process improvements Maintain compliance with hospital policies, CLIA regulations, and accreditation standards related to medical laboratory work and specimen handling Support data collection efforts for clinical trials or research projects by managing accurate documentation and reporting Qualifications Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting with expertise in laboratory techniques such as
ELISA, RNA
extraction, DNA isolation, PCR, immunoassays, hematology, clinical chemistry, and specimen processing Demonstrated supervisory or management experience leading laboratory teams in a fast-paced environment Strong knowledge of CAP and CLIA regulations, laboratory compliance requirements, and quality assurance practices Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIS), and document management systems. Excellent understanding of medical terminology and specimen analysis Experience with blood sampling techniques including venipuncture and phlebotomy; knowledge of vital signs measurement is a plus Ability to interpret complex data sets accurately while maintaining meticulous documentation standards Leadership skills to motivate team members while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper use of medical laboratory equipment Effective communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams involved in clinical supervision. Ability to maintain attention to detail with good organizational skills Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field, required. Medical Technologist with a Tennessee state license and a Tennessee state Generalist Supervisor license, required. At least 4 years of experience in a high complexity testing Molecular/PCR experience, required.
