We are seeking an Assistant Laboratory Operations Manager to support the day‑to‑day execution and continuous improvement of laboratory operations. In this role, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and technical staff to ensure optimal lab performance, reliability, and compliance—while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. About the Role The Assistant Laboratory Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the coordination and management of lab operations and maintenance of client‑owned equipment across North America (NORAM). Reporting to the Lab Operations Manager and NORAM Director of Engineering, you will help drive operational efficiency, oversee technicians, and ensure alignment with CBRE standards and client objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly dynamic, technology‑driven environment, contributing to mission‑critical operations while developing leadership skills within a globally recognized organization. What You'll Do Support the management of laboratory operations and maintenance programs across assigned sites Supervise and guide a team of Lab Operations Technicians, ensuring high‑quality daily execution Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records for lab spaces, equipment, and maintenance activities Oversee lab consumables inventory, including ordering, stocking, and tracking Coordinate tool moves, offsite storage, gas cylinder changes, and bulk chemical delivery systems Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and vendor management to meet operational goals Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders Participate in new construction, retrofits, and design reviews; provide system design input Maintain preventive maintenance and repair records for all lab systems and equipment Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental laws, and company policies Support development and execution of SOPs, MOPs, and Permit to Work (PTW) processes Monitor KPIs/SLAs and drive continuous improvement initiatives Provide input into financial planning, budgeting, and expense management Evaluate team performance and contribute to employee development and annual reviews Coordinate vendor and contractor activities to ensure compliance with company standards Respond to operational issues and emergencies, including after‑hours support when required Drive a culture aligned with high standards, collaboration, and innovation What You'll Need 3+ years of experience in technical or lab environments, with 1+ year of supervisory or leadership experience Experience in laboratory systems, tools, and consumables management Strong leadership mindset with a customer‑focused approach Ability to work effectively within complex, fast‑paced environments Experience with budgeting, vendor management, and operations planning preferred Familiarity with lab and/or cleanroom environments (strongly preferred) Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities Effective communication skills—both written and verbal Proficiency in tools such as Google Sheets, Docs, and other business software Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, technical manuals, and design documents Experience participating in construction/design reviews and quality assurance processes High attention to detail with strong grammar and documentation skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team Why Join CBRE? The minimum salary for the Assistant Lab Ops Manager position is $115,000 per year and the maximum salary for the Assistant Lab Ops Manager position is $135,000 per year. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
