Duration:
1-year contract with the possibility of 4 one-year extension
Shift Schedule:
Lab operates 24/7. Shifts are Sunday Saturday, 8.5 hours including a 30-minute unpaid lunch:
Day:
0800 1630
Evening:
1530 0000
Swing:
1200 2030
Night:
2200 0630 Overtime as needed with prior Manager/Supervisor approval.
Credentialing / Onboarding time:
6 to 8 weeks
Certifications:
ASCP or AMT Education:
Bachelor's degree; graduate of a NAACLS-accredited medical technology program Experience needed: Minimum 1 year (inclusive of clinical training) within the past 5 years Special Skills needed: Proficient in written and spoken English Computer literate; direct EMR documentation
VISTA/CPRS
proficiency preferred (new EMR system may roll out during POP; VA will provide training) Ability to perform phlebotomy (blood cultures, compatibility samples) as needed
Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures. Evaluate, prepare, and process specimens for analysis. Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation. Perform and document quality control activities. Review, validate, and report laboratory results, including critical findings. Accession and process specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing. Maintain laboratory supplies and work areas. Perform phlebotomy as required.
