Job Description Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 7 full-time Clinical Laboratory Scientists to provide services to The Palo Alto VA Medical Center (VAMC) located in Palo Alto, California.
Job Summary:
Clinical Laboratory Scientists must provide professional medical services and quality care to our Veteran population located at VAMC in Palo Alto, CA. Clinical Laboratory Scientists are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals
Pay Rate :
$42.45/ hr + $5.09 H&W fringe
Duties:
Perform a full range of automated and non-automated laboratory procedures in the areas of chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology according to established protocols. Evaluates the suitability of the specimen for analysis, requesting new specimen if determined to be unusable. Prepares specimens for analysis; ensuring that the physiologic states of the specimen properties are maintained. Selects, performs, evaluates, and monitors the performance of test procedures using manual and /or instrumental techniques in accordance with established protocols. Recognizes and reacts to indicators of malfunction; locates and implements corrections. Conducts quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products and maintains proper records for quality control reports. Calibrate, standardizes, adjusts and maintains instruments on which trained. Verifies correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks and monitoring. Identifies the cause of common problems and makes repairs. Evaluates the validity of data in relation to the test system and accepted assay procedures; correlates quantitative data with patient data (i.e., history, medications) to verify results. Performs additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient results. Recognizes abnormal results that require immediate attention by the ordering provider and reports them directly. Responsible for the generation of laboratory results from the work area into the laboratory computer system Edit and verify results recorded into the computer system. Stock and maintain specialized supplies used in the work area. Accession and receive samples into VA laboratory information system package for in-house testing or sends out to reference laboratories. Perform phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Graduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) OR American Medical Technologist (AMT) Minimum of one (1) year experience (inclusive of clinical training) within the past five (5) years
