Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Summary The Medical Technologist I is responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory and reporting timely accurate test results. Shift Night shift
  • 20:00
  • 06:30 Additional night and weekend differentials may be available. Part time
  • 20 hours per week Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required.
Weekend and Night shift differential may be offered. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for reporting accurate results, evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up. Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed. Consciously works to minimize errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner. Performs all laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies, including participation in proficiency testing and familiarization with regulations and quality indicators. Troubleshoots equipment and assay performance when results are questionable. May teach, train and/or mentor new employees, students and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures, when requested. May procure blood from patients by venipuncture, fingerstick or heelstick to obtain blood samples for analysis following age-specific guidelines. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Bachelor of Science Area of Study in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory or medical technology from an accredited institution. Experience Minimum Experience.
Required:
None. Equivalency Combination of additional experience and education may substitute on a 1:1 year basis. Licenses & Certifications Medical Technologist Medical Laboratory Scientist Additional Requirements License/Certification required within six (6) months of hire. Requires one (1) of the following: MT or MLS. Competency None Preferred Qualifications Prefer a year or more of experience outside of an internship. MT, CLS, or MLT already obtained. Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range:
