Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MLS) for a night-shift travel assignment in a critical access hospital setting. The ideal candidate must be a strong generalist who can independently cover multiple laboratory departments, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology . The technologist will work independently during the night shift and will also be responsible for occasional phlebotomy .

8:00 PM - 6:30 AM Requirements MLT or MLS/MT certification required. Strong generalist laboratory experience required. Previous experience working independently in a hospital laboratory preferred. Blood Bank experience required. Microbiology experience, including setup and Gram stains, required. Phlebotomy experience required. Ability to work independently as the sole technologist during portions of the night shift. Must be comfortable covering multiple laboratory departments. Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, quality control, specimen handling, and documentation. Ability to perform occasional phlebotomy when needed. Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Blood Bank. Serve as a generalist and independently manage laboratory responsibilities during assigned night shifts. Perform Blood Bank procedures and maintain appropriate blood product handling standards. Set up microbiology specimens and perform Gram stains. Operate laboratory analyzers and perform required quality-control procedures. Process and properly identify, label, and handle patient specimens. Perform phlebotomy when coverage is needed. Review and report laboratory results accurately and promptly. Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and testing issues within scope of practice. Follow established laboratory policies, safety procedures, and quality standards. Maintain accurate documentation and records. Communicate effectively with providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. Support all laboratory departments as needed. Demonstrate strong independence, reliability, attention to detail, and adaptability.
Pay:
$45.00 - $50.00 per hour
