Position Summary Night Shift; utilizes working knowledge of the complex instruments used in the clinical laboratory to perform the work required with speed and accuracy. Knowledgeable of laboratory test procedures with defined automated procedures, calculations and/or indicators which are age dependent. Testing procedures are performed on specimens from adult, children, adolescent, neonate and geriatric patients. Keeps abreast of advancements made in clinical laboratory science, and reflects the current legal, ethical and professional standards in all areas of responsibility. Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Participates in educational and training activities. Education Bachelors

• Preferred License & Certification National Certification
• Required within 1 year of hire, if not already certified Currently registered or registry eligible (ASCP or equivalent).

Collaborates with departmental team leaders on unmet quality performance standards, directing alternate procedures and reviews at appropriate interval for compliance. Adapts readily to changes in workload and stressful situations, demonstrating confident and supportive behavior in dealing with crisis situations. Correlates abnormal laboratory results with pathologic and physiologic stats to determine validity and reasonableness of data. Recognizes unexpected results, errors and problems with patient tests. Performs analytical and decision making functions without direct supervision. Coordinates activities of laboratory technicians and support personnel as required. Assures the quality and timeliness of patient test results by investigating problems involving specimen collection, result reporting and turnaround time.
