3003323966-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLP is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to perform microbiology testing supporting patient care across the islands. This role performs culture, identification, and susceptibility testing on clinical specimens using advanced analyzers and established protocols. Responsibilities include maintaining instruments, following strict quality and safety standards, validating and reporting accurate results in the LIS, and communicating critical findings to providers. The position offers growth in laboratory science, technology, and process improvement in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities Perform routine and complex microbiology testing on patient specimens following standard operating procedures Operate, calibrate, and maintain microbiology analyzers and laboratory equipment Prepare, stain, and culture specimens; interpret and report organism identification and susceptibility results Adhere to quality control, quality assurance, and safety protocols in compliance with regulatory standards Document and verify test results in the laboratory information system with high accuracy and timeliness Collaborate with pathologists, technologists, and healthcare providers to clarify orders and discuss critical results Troubleshoot instrument issues and testing discrepancies, escalating problems as needed Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and process improvement initiatives Required Skills Clinical microbiology testing Culture and susceptibility methods Operation of automated microbiology analyzers Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Quality control and quality assurance Specimen handling and processing Aseptic technique and biosafety Regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, JCAHO) Data entry and result verification Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
