  • DeGowin Blood Center πŸ” Iowa City, Iowa, United States New πŸ“ Administrative πŸ“…    17 hours ago Post Date πŸ“…    25005768 Requisition # Apply for Job Share this Job Sign Up for Job Alerts The Department of Pathology is seeking a Quality and Operation Improvement Engineer to revise, implement, evaluate and maintain the quality system management program in DeGowin Blood Center designed to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, and to ensure a safe and effective blood supply for patients and a safe donation process for donors.
This position is 100% time, Monday-Friday, 1 st shift.
Duties to include:
  • Coordinates, reviews, manages and maintains an error management program for the DeGowin Blood Center.
  • Participates in document review, including quality assurance documents.
  • Audits quality and operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participates in the development and review of policies, processes and procedures related to the quality management program.
  • Assists in the preparation and on-site hosting of external inspections.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 1-3 years laboratory or quality program experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with effective leadership skills is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, to meet deadlines efficiently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to be highly self-motivated is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • MT(ASCP) (or other ASCP certification) or NCA certification with specialty certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB).
  • Experience in an academic Medical Center, preferably in Transfusion Medicine.
  • Knowledge of the regulations and accrediting standards of the following agencies: CMS, TJC, CAP, and AABB.
