A Clinical Laboratory Scientist analyzes samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes within a medical laboratory or healthcare facility. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Job Description

JOB DUTIES
Collect and prepare blood, urine, and tissue samples for analysis Examine collected samples and identify any cell abnormalities Perform clinical lab tests and report results Maintain laboratory inventory levels and, if necessary, place orders for new supplies Prepare detailed reports about test results and findings Document and review tested data Ensure all tissue samples are prepped for examination Collaborate with pathologist(s) and other medical specialists to determine the correct diagnosis if cell abnormalities are discovered Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy The Medical Technologist (MT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others Computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, Meditech, preferred Ability to work well in a team or independently, preferred Advanced knowledge of biology and chemistry Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry, required Medical Technologist (MT) Certification through ASCP or equivalent, required 2 years' experience as a Medical Technician, preferred Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
