•30.00 per hour during training, with increased compensation upon obtaining RPSGT credential

Schedule:

Night Shift | 7:00 PM-7:00 AM | 12-hour shifts

Paramedics are recognized by the BRPT as an approved healthcare credential and may become eligible to sit for the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) exam after completing 960 hours of qualifying clinical sleep experience , provided all other BRPT eligibility requirements are met. We are seeking a certified Paramedic (EMT-P) who is interested in expanding their clinical skills and building a career in sleep medicine. No previous sleep medicine experience is required. We will provide paid, hands-on training to become a Sleep Technologist. This is an excellent opportunity for a Paramedic who enjoys patient care and physiologic monitoring but is interested in transitioning from the traditional EMS environment into a specialized area of healthcare. As a Paramedic, you already possess many of the clinical skills that translate well into sleep medicine, including patient assessment, airway management, oxygen administration, ECG monitoring, recognition of cardiac and respiratory abnormalities, and responding appropriately to medical emergencies. Career Path to RPSGT Paramedics (EMT-P) are recognized by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as an approved healthcare credential for the RPSGT Healthcare Credential pathway. American Sleep Medicine will provide the clinical training and qualifying sleep-study experience needed to work toward eligibility for the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) examination. Candidates pursuing this pathway must meet all current BRPT requirements, including completion of the required qualifying clinical sleep experience. Our goal is not simply to train you for a job—we are looking for someone interested in developing a long-term career in sleep medicine and becoming an RPSGT. Responsibilities The Sleep Technologist Trainee will be trained to: Prepare patients for overnight diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies Perform patient assessments and explain sleep-study procedures Apply EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory, oxygen saturation and other monitoring sensors Monitor patients and physiologic data throughout overnight studies Recognize respiratory events, cardiac abnormalities and other clinically significant changes Perform CPAP and BiPAP titrations under established protocols Troubleshoot equipment, sensors and PAP interfaces Document patient care and study observations accurately Respond appropriately to patient needs and medical emergencies Learn sleep-study staging, respiratory-event recognition and scoring fundamentals Maintain a safe, professional and comfortable environment for patients Work closely with registered sleep technologists and our clinical team while progressing toward independent competency

Qualifications Required:

Current Paramedic / EMT-P certification Current BLS/CPR certification Strong patient-care and assessment skills Ability to work overnight shifts Dependable and able to work independently Strong attention to detail Comfortable working with computers and medical monitoring equipment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desire to learn sleep medicine and pursue the RPSGT credential
