Job Description

Gig Healthcare is hiring a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a direct-hire opportunity with a healthcare organization in Concord, MA. $30

•43/hour | Full-Time Overnights | $5,000 Sign-On Bonus | Shift Differentials We are looking for an experienced Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician to join a hospital laboratory team. Candidates must have Blood Bank experience and at least one year of laboratory experience.

Weekday Night Differential:

Additional $4.00/hour

Weekend Night Differential:

Additional $5.50/hour Weekend and holiday rotation may be required

Sign-On Bonus:

OVERVIEW

The Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician will perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory testing on blood, body fluid and other clinical specimens. This position is responsible for processing specimens, performing testing, reporting results, completing quality-control procedures and maintaining laboratory equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests Process and analyze blood, body fluid and other clinical specimens Document and report test results according to established procedures Identify and immediately communicate critical values Evaluate specimen integrity and determine acceptability for testing Perform and document required quality-control procedures Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment Enter test results and specimen information into the laboratory information system Respond to inquiries from physicians and other healthcare professionals Participate in quality-assurance and quality-improvement activities Assist with phlebotomy, specimen accessioning and labeling as needed Maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, CAP, DPH and Joint Commission requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of laboratory experience required Blood Bank experience required Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and quality-control procedures Experience using automated and manual laboratory equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document test results Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to critical or unusual results Computer proficiency and experience with laboratory information systems ASCP certification preferred

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory science or medical technology; or ASCP certification in lieu of the stated education requirement

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree in chemical science, biological laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; or ASCP or AMT certification in lieu of the stated education requirement
