Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Fairview Grand Itasca is looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist for Grand Itsaca Clinic & Hospital located in Grand Rapids, MN. This opening is a 1.0 FTE,80 hours per 2-week pay period, day/evening shift. The medical lab scientist will perform laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
Job Duties :
1. Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols. 2. Recognize slight differences in shape, color, and texture. 3. Use eyes, hands, and fingers to operate delicate and sensitive equipment. 4. Work precisely and accurately. 5. Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in the form of charts or drawings. 6. Use measurable and perform medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease verifiable information for making decisions or judgments. 7. Collects and processes all specimen types to include esoteric testing. 8. Competent with the LIS and HER systems. 9. Completes annual competency. 10. Participates proficiency testing. 11. Follows all quality control and patient reporting processes. 12. Resolution of technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established for the department.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science. 2. Completion of Medical Lab Science internship. 2. Eligible for ASCP or equivalent (must obtain within 12-months of hire) required. 3. Good interpersonal communication skills 4. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values. 5. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
