Job Summary:
As a Medical Technologist (MT) at Cottage Hospital, you will perform a variety of complex tests in the areas of blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, urinalysis, and phlebotomy. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety by verifying test results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely results.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids (blood, urine, spinal fluid) to identify normal and abnormal components. Verify and analyze lab findings, ensuring accuracy in results. Perform routine and high-complexity testing, and troubleshoot as necessary. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers and analyzers. Ensure quality control and compliance with regulatory standards. Collect and study blood samples using microscopic techniques. Label and handle specimens accurately, ensuring proper patient identification. Communicate critical lab values to physicians and nursing staff. Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safety protocols. Participate in quality assurance programs and assist with inspections. Support fellow team members in ensuring efficient lab operations.
