+ Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the assigned laboratory station, with a primary focus on hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.

+ Apply a solid understanding of the principles of tests performed, ensuring accurate interpretation of results and appropriate correlation with clinical information.

+ Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment used in the assigned station, following established procedures and safety standards.

+ Ensure that all specimens are handled correctly and placed in appropriate storage conditions to maintain specimen integrity.

+ Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable, accurate, and timely patient results.

+ Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify their accuracy, and promptly report them to the appropriate clinician or healthcare provider.

+ Document all test results accurately and completely in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

+ Support general laboratory operations by collaborating with colleagues across departments such as chemistry, blood bank, and other sections as needed.

+ Participate in training and cross-training activities, including learning chemistry procedures as part of broader general lab exposure.

+ Contribute to a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment by adhering to laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday with alternating weekends 3pm-11pm/4pm-12am Essential Skills

+ Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or valid permit issued by the New York State Department of Education for Clinical Laboratory Technology.

+ Demonstrated hematology experience, including the ability to read and interpret slides and perform differentials.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
