Desert 5 Spot brings the rustic allure of Pioneertown and Cosmic Americana to Brooklyn. Named after the colorful Mojave Desert flower and inspired by Joshua Tree hideouts, throwback roadside motels and western nostalgia, Desert 5 Spot is the ultimate country music lovers watering hole. Entry through a storefront resembling a Pioneertown motel transports guests through the Mojave Desert and into a cozy living room lounge bar, outfitted with a custom mechanical bull. Slangin' out specialty cocktails, frozen margaritas, cold beers and LA-approved tacos, making this the perfect place where cowboys come together. Featuring daily live performances by emerging country artists, the Desert 5 House Band, line dancing and two stepping classes, with weekend DJ's playing country hits all night long, Desert 5 Spot welcomes one and all to leave their tensions and pretensions at the door, put on their boots and let the good times roll. Position Summary The Bar Supervisor coordinates daily bar activities during assigned shifts. You will lead the team of bartenders and barbacks, monitor inventory and cash controls, and ensure all guests have a safe, high-quality experience. This role bridges front-line service and management. Bartenders are professional, have high energy and exhibit excellent communication skills to serve cocktails, as well as exciting new beverages to our guests. The bartender will greet guests, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items and prepare and serve beverages and food. They will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. Key Responsibilities Brief staff before service, assign stations, and provide hands-on guidance during busy periods. Assist in training new bartenders on drink recipes, pouring techniques, and customer service standards. Enforce responsible alcohol service, check guest identification, and prevent the service of alcohol to intoxicated patrons. Monitor stock levels, restock bar stations, and conduct routine inventory checks. Oversee register drawers, reconcile daily shift sales, and handle cash-handling accuracy. Greet guests, monitor service speed, and resolve any customer complaints professionally. Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards behind bars. Communicates daily with MOD of 86ed items. Other duties assigned. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods of time. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 40 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, cutlery used in the cutting of fruit for garnishes. Qualifications and Skills Minimum 3 years of experience as a Bar lead or Supervisor in high-end restaurant or hotel experience. Strong familiarity with cocktail recipes, craft beverages, and local liquor safety laws. Excellent communication, problem-solving under pressure, and basic math/POS system proficiency. Team Player and able to anticipate other's needs. Excellent listener & Communicator with a positive attitude. Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask. Valid local food handler and responsible alcohol service certifications. This is a part-time position.
