What You Will Do:
Function as a full-participating Sleep Lab Technologist by routinely performing polysomnographic studies. Scores polysomnographic studies.
RST, RPSGT
CPSGT, or RRT-SDS can score studies independently. Unregistered sleep technologists and respiratory therapists may score studies under the supervision of one of the above. Performs and scores Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT). Performs equipment troubleshooting and corrects technical problems as they arise. Participates in ongoing department education and inservices. Coordinates patient education programs including an ongoing patient support group. Assists in the orientation and training of new employees in the Sleep Lab. Participates in ongoing department education and inservices. Instruct and provide clinical guidance to students assigned to the department when appropriate. Schedules patient appointments and reviews medical information with patients as necessary. Performs technical duties related to the provision of clinical services of patients. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties. Page 2 of 5 Participate in individual continuous education activities related to polysomnography during times of low census and/or during non-productive hours. Ensure adherence to department policies and procedures to maintain safety standards. Promote safety standards in the work environment. Communicate to the Assistant Director of Cardiac & Pulmonary Services all activities that positively or negatively affect the quality of services provided. Participate in formulating plans to resolve intra- or inter-department concerns. Participate in the development of departmental goals and objectives
What You Will Need:
Must be a registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Therapist registered through one of the following organizations: American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Proven good work attendance record. Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and effectively communicate in both written and oral forms. Ability to do a moderate amount of bending, walking, stooping. Ability to sit and observe monitor for long periods of time.
