What they do
A Clinical Laboratory Scientist analyzes samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes within a medical laboratory or healthcare facility. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

- Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Medical Technologist performs tests and procedures in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory with independent judgement required.
- What qualifications you will need:
- + •Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.
- + •Must be currently registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technologists, National Credentialing Agency OR US Department of Health Education Welfare.
- + •Prefer hospital laboratory experience.
