Laboratory The Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs a variety of complex laboratory tests and analyses that assist physicians and healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This position plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely laboratory results while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety. Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing in areas including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood bank. Collect, process, analyze, and evaluate biological specimens according to established procedures. Review and verify test results for accuracy and completeness prior to reporting. Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment. Perform and document quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities. Identify and resolve testing discrepancies and consult with laboratory leadership as needed. Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and hospital policies. Communicate critical test results promptly to physicians and nursing staff. Participate in the validation and implementation of new testing methods and equipment. Maintain accurate documentation and records within the laboratory information system (LIS). Assist with training and mentoring laboratory students, new employees, and other staff members as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific field. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or equivalent through ASCP, AMT, or other recognized certifying agency. Current state licensure if required by state regulations. Knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
