Full-Time/Part-Time Position Summary The Nurse & Clinical Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction that promotes student learning, clinical competency, and professional development. This role prepares nursing students for safe, effective nursing practice by integrating theory with hands-on learning experiences, demonstrating and evaluating essential nursing skills, and fostering student engagement in on-campus, clinical, simulation, and hybrid learning environments. The Nurse & Clinical Instructor supports student success, retention, and program outcomes through mentoring, coaching, and ongoing assessment while ensuring compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. Additionally, the role evaluates student performance, provides constructive feedback, and maintains collaborative relationships with clinical partners to support meaningful and effective clinical education experiences. Essential Functions Instruction & Student Engagement Deliver instruction aligned with approved curriculum, course objectives, and program outcomes. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, participation, and professional development. Provide timely, constructive, and individualized feedback on student performance. Conduct lectures, discussions, and instructional activities in both on-campus and hybrid formats (e.g., Microsoft Teams, LMS). Maintain regular communication with students and promote active participation. Hybrid & Online Instruction Facilitate online discussions and instructional activities within the Learning Management System (LMS). Evaluate course shells prior to the start of each term and report any issues to the Nurse Administrator. Grade assignments, exams, and discussion posts within the established timelines. Skills Lab & Simulation Instruction Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration of nursing skills. Supervise and evaluate skills of practice, return demonstrations, and simulations. Utilize simulation equipment, and mannequins to create realistic scenarios. Evaluate student competencies and provide remediation. Classroom & Clinical Instruction & Supervision Supervise students at assigned clinical sites in alignment with program objectives and regulatory requirements. Guide students in applying theoretical knowledge to patient-centered care. Collaborate with clinical site staff to support effective and positive learning experiences. Evaluate student clinical performance, documentation, and professionalism. Additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Administrator. Student Success & Retention Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Monitor attendance, remediation, and academic support practices. Support student retention and success initiatives. Qualifications Practical Nursing program -Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. AADN Register Nursing Program -Master's degree required. Current/active, RN license from the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical nursing experience. Teaching, Preceptor, or clinical instructor experienced preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience with simulation-based education and skills lab instruction. Familiarity with competency-based evaluation methods. Classroom, hybrid, competency, simulation, and clinical teaching/education experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong verbal and written instructional, coaching, and clinical supervision skills. Knowledge of adult learning theory and nursing education principles. Proficiency with LMS platforms, Microsoft Teams, and office applications. Work Environment & Expectations Onsite position in classrooms, simulation labs, online environments, and visit to clinical sites. Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting students during skills performance. Schedule may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel to clinical sites. Attend departmental meetings at least twice monthly and quarterly all-staff meetings. Must attend all Teaching Effectiveness Training and any other required training. Must attend two (2) annual graduation ceremonies.
