Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hospice Compliance Officer to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive compliance programs aligned with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulations, JCAHO accreditation standards, and other relevant healthcare policies. Conduct regular audits of medical records, billing practices, and operational procedures to ensure adherence to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), FDA regulations, ICD-9/10 coding standards, CPT coding, and other coding requirements. Lead investigations into compliance issues or incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to mitigate risk. Provide ongoing education and training to staff on healthcare compliance topics such as Medicare regulations, medical law, risk management, and quality assurance practices. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance process improvements that support regulatory compliance and optimize workflow efficiency. Manage documentation related to accreditation standards including JCAHO requirements; prepare reports for internal review and external audits. Utilize EMR/EHR systems for data analysis, reporting trends in compliance metrics, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. Skills Extensive knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules, CMS regulatory requirements, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and FDA regulations relevant to hospice care. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing and data analysis. Strong understanding of healthcare managed care policies and Medicare billing procedures. Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) management systems; ability to analyze data for compliance trends. Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives within healthcare settings. Deep familiarity with accreditation standards such as JCAHO and healthcare quality assurance practices. Effective team leadership abilities with a focus on staff training and fostering a culture of compliance excellence. Strong medical terminology knowledge combined with legal understanding of medical law related to hospice services. Ability to perform risk assessments and implement risk management strategies effectively.
