JOB SUMMARY
Community Health Worker (CHW) is a standard position within the organization and individual job duties/responsibilities will depend on the program assignment. All CHW positions will include interaction with the public through group events or individual service provision. CHWs will assist individuals and/or families to navigate & access community resources. This particular position will assist the Safe & Thriving Communities manager with grant-funded environmental health projects and community initiatives.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Contribute positively as a staff member of the organization. Must be dependable and reliable to report to work as scheduled. Professional representation of Public Health Solutions to the public. Participate in all required trainings. Scheduled hours may vary. Willing to be flexible to adjust hours, including possibly coming early, staying late, or occasional weekend hours as needed. Data entry into an electronic health records system and using Excel spreadsheets. Adheres to strict confidentiality regulations. Provide culturally competent, professional service to the public and individual clients. Maintain knowledge of current environmental public health recommendations and best practices. Provide education and resources related to lead, radon, mold, moisture, pests, carbon monoxide, drinking water, and other healthy-homes topics. Respond to routine environmental health questions from residents. Make referrals to appropriate agencies when concerns fall outside the authority or expertise of the local health department. Conduct site visits, observations, and environmental public health assessments using established protocols and checklists. Participate throughout the district in assessment, collaboration, and outreach and education activities related to: Lead hazards identification and lead poisoning prevention; Public pool inspections; Mosquito trapping for West Nile Virus prevention; Radon exposure prevention and education; Indoor and outdoor air quality education and information sharing; Drinking water testing and education; Others as necessary/appropriate for the position.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with the public, particularly in a one-on-one service setting is desired. Specific experience in social services or healthcare is a plus but not required for most positions.
OTHER:
A valid driver's license and auto insurance coverage is required and must be able to safely operate a vehicle. While performing the duty of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. This position is 100% on-site and does not include remote or hybrid work. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
COMPENSATION
Initial compensation will commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications for the job. Compensation may be adjusted based upon job performance.
