The Johns Hopkins University Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health's (CLAFH's) mission is to eliminate health inequities and promote overall wellbeing among Latino adolescents and their families. While our work is Latino-focused, our research and resources are applicable to initiatives aimed at ending inequities for other groups. CLAFH's core work focuses on developing, evaluating, and disseminating family-based interventions and nurse-driven models of health care delivery designed to mitigate harmful social determinants of health, eliminate health inequities, increase Latino engagement in health care, and promote life opportunities. Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Health Workers will: Deliver evidence-based interventions (EBIs) to Latino and Black families living in the South Bronx designed to address substance use and related overdose inequities Provide families with household-based overdose first responder trainings Screen, navigate, and provide a warm hand off for youth and their families to existing substance use and mental health prevention and treatment services as needed Deliver family-based intervention content to support communication about substance use prevention and treatment within families/households Tailor and frame intervention content personalized to the family, community, and local health context Facilitate the cultural and linguistic appropriateness of home visits Attend required and relevant trainings including in human subjects protections and intervention content delivery Required qualifications: High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. Three years progressively responsible related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bronx residency is preferred. Bachelors degree is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Flexible schedule (including weekends) is preferred. Cultural competence in working with Latino and African American communities is preferred. Strong commitment to working in communities with health inequities is preferred. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-focused environment, be motivated, be organized, be detail-oriented, be willing to work under the supervision of the project directors, and possess the necessary skills to complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.

Pay:

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
