Summary Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Pathology Supervisor and the Medical Direction of the Pathologists, perform, evaluate, and report routine and non-routine cytologic examinations, microscopic screening of both gynecological and non-gynecological material and fine needle aspirations from various body sites. Education Four years of formal training or education beyond the high school level (e.g., Bachelors Degree). Certification, Registration & Licensure Certification required: Cytology Technologist (American Society Clinical Pathologist). Experience None required. Completion of 12-month CAHEA (Committee on Allied Health Education and Accrediation) accredited cytotechnology program preferred. Responsibilities Screen, diagnose, and report GYN cytology samples. Screen, diagnose, and report NON-GYN samples. Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements. Effectively communicates with physicians on calls involving results and problems. Follow established department procedures and maintain quality control as outlined in the Cytology Procedure Manual. Maintain all required records, reports, and files as defined in the Cytology Procedure Manual. Participate in CAP surveys four (4) times annually for GYN and non-GYN.
