GENERAL OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory procedures on clinical research specimens; displays a mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation; correlates data required to provide quality information used by physician in the research and development of clinical processes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs laboratory testing on specimens according to departmental protocol while complying with hospital and department policies regarding safety and infection control. Displays mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation. (40%) Independently performs all tasks related to the execution of research as defined by the physician/investigator. (20%) Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation. (20%) Participates with the review and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance records. (5%) Demonstrates proper care and handling of laboratory animals. (5%) Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory. (5%) Monitors and evaluates laboratory inventory. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS

: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related science Experience with computer software programs Preferred 0-1 years' experience in a research laboratory environment
