Childersburg Family Dental, Dr. Roxanne Weaver We are seeking Dental Assistant to join our clinical team! Detail oriented, self starter who provides a high level of patient care. In this role, you will balance clinical chairside assistance with essential administrative tasks to ensure our practice runs smoothly and efficiently for the patient. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a welcoming bedside manner, and a strong understanding of basic dental practice protocols and infection control.
Prepare treatment rooms by cleaning, sterilizing, and setting up necessary dental instruments and equipment needed for the specific treatment prior to patient arrival. Assist the dentist during a variety of procedures (such as fillings, crowns, root canals, and extractions) by passing instruments, managing suction, and anticipating the dentist's needs as she sees fit. Prepare patients for treatments, ensuring they are comfortable in the chair and addressing any anxieties or questions they may have prior to the doctor seeing the patient. Expose and process dental X-rays (radiographs) safely and accurately, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images. Take dental impressions if needed; for removables, crowns, or temporary restorations. Sterilize and disinfect all medical instruments and equipment in strict accordance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines.
Administrative & Patient Care:
Welcome and check in patients , review and update their medical histories, documentation of treatment, conversations and doctor recomendations in Eaglesoft Software. Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies, post-operative care instructions, and preventative dental health. The patient should always leave with two appointments: one for preventative treatments such as healthy mouth cleaning or perio maintenance and if they need additional treatment, the DA is responsible for making sure those are scheduled Support front-office tasks as needed, including scheduling follow-up appointments, answering phones, managing patient charts, and data entry.
Skills & Qualifications Technical Knowledge:
Strong familiarity with dental instruments, sterilization protocols, and a broad range of dental procedures.
Technology Proficiency:
Experience operating digital X-ray machines and utilizing dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Curve Dental).
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication, empathy, and customer service skills to ease patient anxiety and work effectively within a team environment.
Detail-Oriented:
A strict commitment to safety regulations, cleanliness, and precise patient record keeping. Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent on-the-job training (varies by state requirements).
Certifications:
Active State Radiography/X-ray certification is required. Certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential is a plus. 1+ years of experience working in a dental practice is required in order to train candidate.
