The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specific expertise in orthodontic procedures and patient care. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to transforming smiles while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient comfort, and safety. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant will be responsible for supporting orthodontists in delivering exceptional treatment experiences, managing patient interactions, and maintaining a sterile and efficient clinical environment. This position is 4- 5 days per week. Pay is $25.00 - 33.00 per hour based on experience Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment, such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, are ready for use. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with infection prevention protocols and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and progress. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry standards. Monitor vital signs when necessary to ensure patient safety during procedures; assist with medical documentation as required. Maintain strict infection control procedures by adhering to healthcare infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques throughout all clinical activities. Support the clinic's administrative functions by assisting the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient management software. Ensure proper dental sterilization procedures are followed for all instruments and equipment used in orthodontic treatments. Collaborate with team members to deliver comprehensive patient care while upholding clinical confidentiality policies. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient data management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to orthodontics and pediatrics. Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanning technologies. Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques. Expertise in chairside assisting within orthodontic settings, including handling dental instruments and appliances. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric dentistry contexts. Knowledge of dental equipment operation, endodontics, oral surgery procedures, and prosthodontics basics is advantageous. Demonstrated understanding of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in medical documentation and records management.
