Duties Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures to ensure a welcoming atmosphere Manage patient scheduling using dental practice management software and coordinate appointments efficiently Handle phone communication with professionalism, providing clear information and scheduling assistance Maintain accurate and organized medical records, including filing, data entry, and electronic health records (EHR) management Assist the clinical team with back-office tasks such as sterilization, preparing treatment rooms, and passing instruments during procedures Support billing and coding processes by reviewing documentation, applying CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and medical billing codes accurately Verify insurance coverage, process claims using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, and ensure compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies Perform administrative duties including data entry with 10-key typing skills, managing patient files, and supporting health information management Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential Demonstrated proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing processes, and insurance claim submission Familiarity with health insurance procedures including Medicare documentation review and care plan coordination Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with electronic health records management is required Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance with HIPAA standards Previous clinic or dental office experience along with clerical support skills will help you excel in this role This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in patients' lives while developing your skills in healthcare administration.
