Duties Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures with chairside assisting techniques. Take dental x-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety standards are maintained. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to maintain aseptic technique and infection control standards. Support front desk operations by coordinating patient scheduling, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Skills Proficiency with dental software. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry and specialized fields like oral surgery or pediatrics. Experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras (such as 3D scanners), and dental sterilization tools. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while following radiation safety guidelines. Skilled in infection prevention management practices including aseptic technique and infection control protocols. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration within a healthcare setting. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention standards and medical coding for accurate documentation.
