In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensure patient comfort, and support the delivery of high-quality dental care. Your expertise in dental procedures, infection control, and patient communication will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and cared for. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced, collaborative setting dedicated to improving oral health. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and organized according to aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance. Support front desk operations by assisting the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling, medical documentation, and insurance processing as needed. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to CDC guidelines for sterilization and aseptic technique across all clinical activities. Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Support the team with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems for accurate documentation of medical records and coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience in chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while following radiation safety standards; certification in X-ray techniques preferred. Familiarity with medical imaging devices like 3D scanners used in advanced diagnostics. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about procedures and oral health practices. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting general dentistry practices with professionalism and enthusiasm.
