Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in orthodontics, dental assisting, and patient management, with a passion for delivering outstanding care. This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals while supporting patients through their orthodontic treatment journeys. Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance installations, ensuring smooth clinical operations. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Take dental x-rays, including intraoral, panoramic and lateral ceph images, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort. Manage patient records maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Educate patients on orthodontic care, oral hygiene practices, and appliance maintenance to promote optimal treatment outcomes. Maintain dental equipment, including Itero scanners and other advanced imaging tools, ensuring proper functioning and sterilization. Ability to take alginate impressions with accuracy. Support the dental reception team by managing patient scheduling, answering queries, and facilitating effective communication within the clinic. Skills Proficiency with Ortho II for efficient patient data management. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with healthcare privacy standards. Experience with dental sterilization procedures and infection control practices aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, clinical procedures, and anatomy relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry for enhanced efficiency during treatments. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles when working with younger patients requiring orthodontic interventions. Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines and Itero scanning devices accurately. Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration within the dental team. $24.00 - $33.00 per hour
