Job Description

Overview Distinctive Home & Health Care is a leading provider of healthcare to serve military installations across the United States. Our team of professionals is dedicated to providing the highest quality of service and support for each one of our clients. Distinctive Healthcare is currently seeking to hire a full time Dental Assistant at the Federal Correctional Institution, FCI Herlong.. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Manage patient information using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Conduct vital signs assessments and document medical history accurately in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies. Support patient management by providing pre-appointment instructions, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort throughout visits. Maintain dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical documentation and records. Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools used in general dentistry and specialized fields like pediatric dentistry or oral surgery. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training; additional certification in radiography is preferred. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures. Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to infection control standards. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; experience working with pediatric patients is advantageous.
