Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance installations with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray devices, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient appointments. Take and develop dental radiographs while adhering to infection prevention protocols and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical documentation related to patient health status. Maintain strict infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and dental equipment processing. Support general dentistry procedures when required, including oral surgery or endodontics, demonstrating versatility within the clinical setting. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in an orthodontic or general dentistry environment with familiarity in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for patient management and record keeping. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental assisting roles. Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, and the operation of dental equipment including 3D scanners. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, and clinical confidentiality policies. Prior experience supporting chairside assisting in orthodontics, prosthodontics, or oral surgery is advantageous. Ability to work efficiently within a team practicing four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
