Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures. Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to safety protocols and radiation safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Follow strict infection prevention management procedures including dental sterilization protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with patient management software, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing patient flow efficiently. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with a strong understanding of dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Experience working with EMR systems like Open Dental for documentation and record keeping. Knowledge of infection control standards, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention practices. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental instruments, and other clinical tools safely and effectively. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a compassionate manner. Excellent patient management skills to provide outstanding patient care from check-in to post-treatment follow-up. Strong communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with the dental team and convey information clearly to patients.
