Duties Assist dentists with chairside procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for use. Take and develop dental x-rays while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and infection prevention management policies. Manage patient records accurately using Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessment and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to enhance their understanding and comfort. Maintain clinical cleanliness by following aseptic techniques and dental sterilization procedures in line with infection control standards. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration in the applicable region. Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental software platforms including Open Dental. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care. Skilled in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention techniques aligned with healthcare infection control standards. Ability to operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and other clinical tools effectively and safely. Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA compliance) and medical documentation practices. Excellent communication skills to interact empathetically with patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient workflow during procedures.
