Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric treatments, ensuring smooth clinical operations. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with dental x-ray safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care. Support patient management by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following infection control standards and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow efficiency and patient comfort. Assist with dental equipment operation and troubleshooting, including the use of advanced tools like the intraoral camera and dental sterilization procedures. Document medical history updates, treatment notes, and other relevant information accurately in medical documentation systems. Qualifications Valid license or certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current credentials recognized by state licensing boards. Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental instruments used in various procedures. Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology. Expertise in infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills. Knowledge of dental equipment operation including endodontic tools, prosthodontic devices, oral surgery instruments, and pediatric-specific equipment. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation processes.
