Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while ensuring adherence to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases to ensure safe treatment environments. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance their understanding and comfort. Support the dental team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments with patient management software, and performing administrative duties as a dental receptionist when needed. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and four-handed dentistry. Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and infection control standards aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient medical documentation and record keeping. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of pediatric patients. Ability to perform dental sterilization procedures accurately while following strict aseptic techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology related to general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection prevention measures.
