In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, manage patient care, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Take and develop dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as open dental while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases to ensure comprehensive care. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with patient management software, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records efficiently. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration in the applicable jurisdiction. Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialty practice such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery. Proficiency with EMR systems like Open Dental, along with familiarity with patient management software. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and infection control procedures including sterilization protocols. Ability to perform dental instrument processing, dental sterilization procedures, and maintain aseptic technique throughout clinical activities. Experience with dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanner use; certification in radiography is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills for effective patient care coordination and collaboration with team members such as dental receptionists and healthcare professionals. Knowledge of medical terminology related to pediatrics, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive care.
