Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized dental instruments and equipment, following strict infection prevention management protocols. Take dental x-rays and 3D scans accurately, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using advanced patient management software such as Open Dental or similar systems, ensuring precise medical documentation. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Process dental instruments efficiently using proper sterilization procedures to uphold infection control standards. Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and clinical procedures to assist in delivering high-quality general dentistry services. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by state law. Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry or oral surgery exposure. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing electronic health records. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare infection prevention and control practices. Skilled in dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technologies. Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment operation, and aseptic techniques essential for four-handed dentistry. Ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology while maintaining professionalism in patient care scenarios.
