Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and orthodontic equipment, including 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices related to orthodontic appliances and provide post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation when necessary, especially for pediatric or special needs patients. Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, processing dental equipment, and following clinical confidentiality policies. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation. Knowledge of dental imaging technology such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners; ability to operate patient management software like Dentrix or Epic is preferred. Strong understanding of infection prevention management and healthcare infection control practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and clinical confidentiality policies.
