Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Ability to do temporary crowns. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including dental x-ray procedures and 3D scans, adhering to all safety standards and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software; document treatment details accurately and securely. Perform vital signs measurement and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient assessments. Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures for all dental instruments and equipment. Support patient management by providing excellent patient care, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to improve efficiency during clinical procedures. Assist with dental instrument processing, sterilization, and inventory management to ensure readiness for daily operations. Uphold compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to protect patient privacy. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other patient management systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and oral surgery. Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration with the dental team. Familiarity with medical documentation standards and medical records management. Knowledge of healthcare infection control practices aligned with clinical confidentiality policies. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care in general dentistry settings.
