Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and HIPAA regulations. Prior dental office experience and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Meditech are highly preferred. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including insurance verification for various providers Collect payments, process billing, and handle medical collections as needed Maintain accurate patient records in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plans Assist patients with intake procedures and answer inquiries via multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing multi-line phones Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, reviewing documentation, and managing office supplies Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic workflow and patient care coordination Skills Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing/coding practices Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid procedures Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate documentation review Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and health information management software Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism This position offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team committed to providing quality dental care.
