Duties Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all dental tools meet infection prevention management standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to aid diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs and assist in patient management before, during, and after procedures to ensure comfort and safety. Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed. Experience Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry practices. Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and infection control protocols is essential. Hands-on experience with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is highly preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft enhances workflow efficiency. Understanding of pediatric dentistry, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and anatomy knowledge is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to follow medical documentation standards while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Certification or training in X-ray operation, dental sterilization procedures, or healthcare infection prevention is a plus.
