Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary crowns, fabricating provisional restorations, and applying sealants under dentist supervision. Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other advanced imaging technology while adhering to safety protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document treatment details accurately and securely. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments according to infection prevention management policies; process dental instruments using aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices to promote optimal dental health. Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and assisting with patient inquiries as a dental receptionist when needed. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical records. Ensure compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards through diligent sterilization procedures and infection control practices. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of general dentistry procedures; experience in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is a plus. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and oral surgery support. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with patient management software is highly desirable. Certification in Dental Radiography (X-ray) required; additional certifications in endodontics or oral surgery are advantageous. Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to accurately perform medical imaging procedures while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
