In this role, you will support dentists during clinical procedures, manage patient flow, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized according to infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures such as X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other dental treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment like 3D scanners and dental radiography systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix and OpenDental, ensuring all medical documentation is complete and up-to-date. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging procedures to monitor patient health before treatments. Support patient management by providing clear instructions on post-treatment care and answering questions about procedures or dental terminology. Maintain clinical cleanliness by following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent infection spread. Collaborate with the team using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures. Assist with dental instrument processing and ensure all dental equipment is functioning correctly for safe use. Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive patient information in compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry. Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling and record management. Familiarity with EMR systems, patient management software, and medical documentation practices. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties. Understanding of dental sterilization procedures, infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills for patient care and collaboration with team members. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred but not required; willingness to obtain relevant certifications if necessary.
