Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and transform smiles! In this vital role, you will support an orthodontist by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient flow, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. Duties Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment including 3D scanners and dental x-ray devices, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention standards Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft and Dolphin, documenting treatment details accurately and securely Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal outcomes Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and managing patient flow with professionalism as a dental receptionist Maintain clinical cleanliness by following infection control protocols, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all dental equipment is in excellent working condition Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on orthodontics or pediatric dentistry is highly preferred Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and aseptic technique Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dolphin for efficient medical documentation and record keeping Knowledge of dental terminology related to orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures Understanding of medical imaging procedures including X-ray techniques specific to dental x-ray and 3D scanner operation Strong grasp of healthcare infection prevention and control practices to ensure patient safety at all times Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating excellent clinical confidentiality policies Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a real difference!
