Job Description

We are hiring one more Orthodontic Assistant at Next Level Orthodontics, and we want to be upfront about how we're choosing.
WE ARE HIRING FOR ATTITUDE. WE WILL TEACH YOU THE SKILLS.
We can teach you to change a wire, take a scan, and bond a bracket. We have four experienced assistants and a doctor who likes to teach, and we do it all day. What we cannot teach is whether you light up when a nervous twelve-year-old sits in your chair. Whether you notice the tray is missing an instrument before anyone asks. Whether you show up on time, every time, because that's just who you are. If you have that, we want to talk to you — whether you've been doing ortho for ten years or have never worked in a dental office in your life.
ONE HONEST THING ABOUT WHO THIS JOB IS FOR
This is a career position, not a stepping stone. We invest heavily in the person we hire — months of training, paid certification, real mentorship — and we're looking for someone who wants to still be here in three, five, ten years, growing into more responsibility. If you're applying to build clinical hours before dental, medical, or hygiene school, we're genuinely rooting for you, but this isn't the right job and we'd rather say so now than after we've both spent three months on it. We'd be glad to have you shadow instead — just email us.
WHO TENDS TO DO WELL HERE
You are warm, and it isn't an act. You are on time. You are organized and you notice details other people miss. You are good with your hands. You would rather be busy than bored. When you don't know something you ask instead of guessing. And when a teammate is underwater, you're already walking over. If you've been a server, a barista, a vet tech, a medical assistant, a preschool teacher, a retail keyholder — you may already have most of what we need. Those jobs build the exact muscles this one uses: pace, composure, and being genuinely good with people on a hard day.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY IS
You run a chair. You greet and seat your patient, you have everything ready before the doctor sits down, and you know what's needed before you're asked. You'll place and change wires, bond and debond, deliver appliances and retainers, take photos and x-rays and digital scans, teach patients how to wear their elastics, and chart it all accurately before they're out the door. You are the reason a patient and their parent leave feeling taken care of. That's the whole job, and it's a good one.
WHAT MAKES THIS OFFICE DIFFERENT
We're a technology-forward specialty practice with our own in-house digital lab — we design and 3D-print our own aligners and retainers here instead of shipping everything out. We run CBCT imaging, intraoral scanning, and a lot of MARPE/MSE and airway-focused treatment. If you're the kind of person who wants to understand why and not just how, you'll get plenty of that here, and we'll train you on the lab side too if you want it. And we're closed Fridays. Real three-day weekend, every single week.
WHAT WE REQUIRE
High school diploma or GED. Availability Monday-Thursday, 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Able to stand and work chairside through longer appointments. Florida Dental Radiographer certification — or a willingness to get it. We will pay for the course and work around your schedule. That's the list. Notice what's not on it.
HELPFUL, BUT GENUINELY NOT REQUIRED
Orthodontic or dental assisting experience. Intraoral scanners (iTero, Trios, AlliedStar). Practice-management software (Ortho2 Edge, Dolphin, Cloud9). MARPE/MSE, TADs, CBCT, in-house aligner workflows. Expanded functions certification. If you have these, say so — it affects where you start in the pay range. If you don't, apply anyway.
PAY AND BENEFITS
Starting at $18 per hour, with room above that depending on experience — we pay for what you bring.
On top of that:
paid time off, paid vacation, paid holidays, 401(k), orthodontic treatment discounts for you and your immediate family, uniforms, paid continuing education, and paid radiography certification if you need it.
ONE THING BEFORE YOU APPLY
The application asks you five short questions. Please answer all five in your own words — we read every one, and they matter more to us than the resume does. Applications that skip them or answer in one or two words don't get reviewed, no matter how strong the experience looks. Taking fifteen minutes to answer them properly is the first thing that tells us you read the ad and follow through. That's most of the job. Next Level Orthodontics is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. If you need an accommodation at any point in the hiring process, tell us and we'll arrange it.
Pay:
From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
Benefits:
401(k) Continuing education credits Employee discount License reimbursement On-the-job training Paid time off Professional development assistance Uniform allowance Application Question(s): This is a long-term career position, not a stepping stone to another program. Where would you like your career to be in three to five years? Tell us about a job where you dealt with people all day. What made someone's visit good or bad? Do you have any dental, orthodontic, or medical experience? If not, that's completely fine — tell us what you've done instead. Are you currently certified in dental radiography in Florida? If not, are you willing to get certified? We will pay for the course. Our schedule is Monday through Thursday, roughly 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with Fridays off. Does that work for you?
