Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing materials. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining proper radiation safety standards. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system like Open dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Perform chairside assisting with aseptic techniques, vital signs measurement, and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote health literacy. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of dental experience required. Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Proficiency with EMR systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical records management is a plus. Ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately while adhering to safety standards; experience with medical imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting in pediatric cases preferred. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration; previous role as a dental receptionist or in medical documentation is beneficial. Certification in dental assisting or related fields; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are desirable.
